Nursery &
Reception Classes
(3 to 5 years)
Teachers ensure that a range of strategies using the Foundation Stage Curriculum are used in learning and that the teaching is varied and adapted to suit the needs of the individual child.
The six areas of learning are:
Personal, social and emotional development
Communication, language and literacy
Mathematical development
Knowledge and understanding of the world
Physical development
Creative development
In each area children’s progress is tracked through a series of stepping stones. Learning experiences are planned to ensure that individuals are appropriately challenged and have all the foundations for future learning securely in place.
(12 months to 3 years)
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which became compulsory in the United Kingdom in September 2008 for registered providers of the care and education of children ages 0 – 5.
The EYFS has 4 themes:
A Unique Child
Positive Relationships
Enabling Environments
Learning and Development
The curriculum is delivered through a well planned play based approach to learning and development rather than chronological, age based teaching and learning.
