Safeguarding

The International School of Samui is committed to ensuring the highest level of child protection and safeguarding at all times. The welfare and wellbeing of our children is central to everything that we do as a school.

All staff members, not just teachers, are trained in child protection and safeguarding with this being revisited annually. We have a designated safeguarding lead and two deputy safeguarding leads, with their contact information displayed in many areas across the school. Staff who may be involved in the recruitment of new staff are trained in 'Safer Recruitment' and we follow all guidance in ensuring that all employees have full identity, qualification, background and police checks.

Our comprehensive child protection and safeguarding policy provides full detail of the school’s position and arrangements in respect of child protection; it makes clear the school’s commitment to the development of good practice and sound procedures. The document also provides clear direction to staff and others about expected codes of behaviour in dealing with child protection issues to ensure that child protection concerns and referrals are handled sensitively, professionally and in ways which prioritise the needs of the child.
