Every year in the primary school, in term 3, the students take part in the wonderful experience of a creative learning week, which at ISS, we call Project Week. This year, our project week was International Week. The students from Reception to Year 6 have spent the week learning about different countries, cultures, geographies, arts and foods from around the World.
During the week, the children have been split into different groups from their usual class groups and taken part in mixed group activities led by the primary class teachers.
The lessons have focused on History, Geography, Art & Design, Language, Culture, Cookery and many other relevant learning topics. Although, different from their usual class lessons, this independent learning is curriculum focused and gives them an opportunity to develop curriculum objectives they may not have met during the year. P
Project weeks are common practice in the UK and in many other British international schools and invaluable to expanding the children's general knowledge. This year, the students studied India, The United States of America, Spain and South America.
