Senior Students Discover Koh Samui in Thai Culture Class
Over the past two weeks, ISS Senior students explored popular tourist attractions on Koh Samui as part of their Thai Culture class. Working in groups, students researched their chosen attractions, designed creative posters, and shared their findings with classmates. It was a great opportunity to learn, collaborate, and deepen their appreciation of Thailand’s rich culture and tourism.

Oskar Achieves Bronze at Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad (SEAMO)
Congratulations to Oskar (Year 7) who participated in the Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad (Extended Round), held in Bali, Indonesia, on 17 January 2026. Through his dedication and strong problem-solving skills, Oskar received the Bronze Award for SEAMO X 2026 Paper C, after placing in the 60th percentile or higher among top competitors from 22 countries. Well done, Oskar — we are incredibly proud of your achievement!

The Funky Ducklings and Banned on Tuesday took to the stage for the second ISS Live Lounge performance of the school year, recording a new set of songs in the Drama Theatre. Not only do events such as this provide good practice for public performances, but also allows our talented students to perform in different environments to produce music videos to showcase their talents further.

Exploring Thai Culture Through the Siamese Betta Fish (Pla Kat)
Our Thai culture class has recently been focusing on animals, and students were encouraged to learn about the Siamese Betta fish (Pla Kat). Pla Kat is an important national symbol of Thailand, representing resilience, beauty, and cultural heritage rooted in ancient traditions of fish fighting and selective breeding for vibrant colours. Students explored this rich history, created their own Pla Kat designs, and proudly presented their creations to the class.

Hands-On Learning with Elephants at Samui Elephant Haven
This Term our students have been visiting Samui Elephant Haven, and will continue to do so until the end of Term 2. The students have so far learnt about the anatomy of the elephants, their history, as well as their diet. Last Friday we prepared elephant balls which the students have happily been feeding them.
