Our Primary students had a wonderful opportunity to learn about Thai food preservation by making their own salted eggs, or Khai Kem. This traditional Thai ingredient is created by curing eggs in a salt-based mixture, resulting in a firm egg white and a rich, oily orange-red yolk.
After learning the preservation process, the students also used their homemade salted eggs to prepare a delicious Spicy Khai Kem Salad (Yum Khai Kem). It was a fun and hands-on experience that allowed them to explore Thai culinary traditions while practicing their cooking skills.
