Our Key Stage 2 children (Years 3 to 6) are routinely participating in Team Sports sessions every week on top of their physical education lessons. Years 3&4 come together every Thursday and Years 5&6 on Friday mornings.
Boys and girls are organized by age group with different sports being taught throughout the year. Typically, teamsport sessions would develop the children's knowledge and skills-set in basketball, handball, netball, football, cricket and rounders. This structure allows them to interact with students outside their class and develop their teamwork skills.
This term children have focused their energy on handball and basketball. Following many weeks of practice their skills were thoroughly tested in their inter-house team-sports competition.

It was a lovely occasion for parents to watch their children and cheer on their child's house. It was a lovely atmosphere.
Darwin House secured the cup for years 3 & 4 with two wins making them proud to be our champions in Handball this year. Year 3s really stepped up and did extremely well for their first inter-house sports competition.
Years 5 & 6 also gave everyone a great sporting display of their basketball skills with some very impressive performances on show. Darwin house had a fantastic game against Newton house scoring 12 points (6 hoops!). Sadly though lost against Einstein -- who also won against Newton house in an earlier round. Yet again Einstein house raised the bar and become the ultimate years 5&6 inter-house champions for term 1 in basketball. A great achievement given the tough competition!
Impressive basketball shots were demonstrated by the following students:
