Shark’s swimming success

Over the weekend our Sharks swim team had a very successful swimming competition at BISP in Phuket. The hosts put on great event with more than 600 swimmers taking part from across Asia including teams from China, Singapore, Myanmar and Laos.

Our ISS swimmers fared well over the 3 days given the competitive field they were up against. We had some impressive podium places for Yunho Yang (year 3) Ing Nongthabatul (year 7) and Tom Maestracci (year 9). We must also congratulate our other finalists: Haneul Fife (year 8), Mark Yurkuns (year 3), Peter Volkov (year 3) and Artem Mironov (year 3). Their skill and relentless hard training definitely paid off.

Our other swimmers all posted great times, with many ribbons won which were awarded to heat winners. ISS swimmers participating in the mixed 8 and under 200 meter freestyle relay did exceptionally well, with relay medal winners awarded to Mark Yurkuns, Tabitha Lees, Artem Mironov and Kamilla Pozsgai.

Special congratulations to Yunho Jang who came 2nd overall in his age group and was awarded a special trophy to be displayed alongside his many medals. It’s been a great year of sporting success for our Sharks team and we are excited with what the final few months of the academic year will bring to our incredible team. Mr Withers is already planning ahead for next academic year.
