As part of the start of the new academic year, our teachers at the International School of Samui take part in professional development work before Term 1 begins.
This year, we had a 3-day INSET to make sure that we were fully ready for the oncoming academic year.
The entire training commenced through a series of presentations from the leaders of the school. Deputy Headmistress, Mrs Andrewartha, reviewed the past academic year, specifically the achievements of our teachers as an entire team that worked together to provide an enjoyable year filled with learning.
Miss Mooney, our Assistant Deputy Headmistress took us to the future, discussing plans for the new academic year and addressing areas of improvement in our teaching systems and processes.
Our new Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO) gave us a report of what took place during the summer; the projects that our admin, maintenance and HR staff completed and the new school policies and procedures moving forward.
The rest of the 3-day period was dedicated to preparing rooms, paperwork and teaching materials, this way our teaching staff is ahead of the game in terms of classroom setups and planning.
Come Friday we welcomed new students into our school and classrooms. In the evening, our teachers indulged in a warm AY 2018/2019 welcome party!
