As we prepare for our holiday trips, we would like to keep you informed of the Thai ceremonies and events taking place as our half-term break coincides with the cremation of the honourable King Bhumibol Adulyadej. During the 5-day royal funeral ceremony which takes place next week, businesses are encouraged to operate as usual except for the actual cremation day on the 26th of October. Please expect some heavy traffic in metropolitan Bangkok during this time, especially in areas close to the Grand Palace, as an estimated 200,000++ Thais will take part in the ceremony. This is not required of visitors but if possible, they should wear respectful clothing when in public.
