Year 1: Trip to the Post Office

Based on their topic "Our Seaside Home"

"What is your address?" That usually means your "e-mail address" these days. Because it's more convenient to send a message from wherever you are -- as long as you have a computer or mobile device -- and your message is guaranteed to be delivered real-time, there is no need for frequent visits to the post office.

At the International School of Samui, we teach our young ones about the uses and importance of physical addresses. Year 1 students also learnt the traditional way of sending letters to their family. They wrote a letter for their parents, which they happily dropped at the post office in Maenam on Tuesday 14th November 2017. There they interacted with our local post office staff and they were given a special day pass to see what happens inside the post office, how the letters are weighed, sorted, mailed and delivered. Everyone had a great time learning.
