Year 12 Students Conquer Doi Inthanon on Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition

Our team of six Year 12 students has successfully completed their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Level expedition with four days of trekking in the mountains of Mae Wang and Doi Inthanon National Park near Chiang Mai.

Each day, our team cooked meals together with local guides in homestay kitchens, slept in simple bamboo village houses, and trekked through the mountains — eventually reaching Thailand’s highest peak, Doi Inthanon, at over 2,500m. With temperatures around 10°C at the summit, it certainly felt a bit chilly!

The students had a truly positive experience — learning about themselves, their strengths, and their capabilities, while also having the unique opportunity to spend time in remote villages with the incredibly warm and hospitable Karen hill people.

A huge well done to our students, and many thanks to all the staff and families whose support made this adventure possible.
