As part of their ‘Humans and Other Animals’ topic, Year 3 students investigated the anatomy of a shrimp. They removed the ‘shell’ and searched for a skeleton inside the shrimp meat—but there wasn’t one!

Their curiosity led to further investigation, where they discovered that the ‘shell’ is actually an exoskeleton—a skeleton on the outside of the body! A fascinating hands-on science discovery for our Year 3 scientists.
