Year 6 Transition Week

Year 6 are currently spending a week experiencing life as Senior School students. The aim of this transition period is to dispel any myths or concerns that children have about leaving Primary School this year, and to give them some idea of what to expect from school after the summer holiday.

The major difference they will encounter (apart from having to wait an extra hour for lunch!) is that the school day is organised around different subject classrooms, with individual subject teachers, rather than their own classroom and class teacher.

Even in a small friendly school like ISS, the move from Primary to Senior can be daunting even for the most outgoing students, but after transition week all our students tend to feel much more comfortable and less anxious about the change, and enjoy the summer holiday feeling confident about the new phase of their studies.
