This year, Miss Bates and the Early Years team are trialing a new way to share learning with parents - online learning journals.

On Wednesday 31st January, Early Years parents attended an information workshop about a new piece of educational software called Tapestry. Using Tapestry, parents of Early Years children can view photographs and observations from their children's time in school, almost as they happen!

Parents can also add photos and observations from learning that happens at home to their child's online journal, which can be shared with the teacher and the class back at school.

This is a very exciting new step in home-school communication - who knows where it might lead!?

We have high hopes as this new platform literally brings together students, parents and their teacher on the same page. So any areas of improvement in the children's education can be addressed immediately. We are proud to have Miss Bates at the International School of Samui as she is an excellent Early Years teacher and she normally spends a significant amount of time compiling a scrapbook-style file for each of her students (all 20+ of them), highlighting their happiest learning moments in class at the end of term. With Tapestry, she can upload all the nice photos and important information in the student's profile and parents can get a permanent version of the journal either as a hard copy or on CD.

And as a bonus, being situated in this beautiful island of Koh Samui -- with many residents cautious about caring for the environment -- paperless reporting seems to be another step to the right direction.

If you would like to learn more about Tapestry, you can discuss it directly with Miss Bates, who will be happy to guide you, or you can visit their website at: https://tapestry.info/

As such, we are always open to your feedback and suggestions regarding your child's education, so feel free to contact us or request for an appointment for any urgent matter.
