Maths Olympiad Champion & Piano Genius in the house

We are extremely proud of two of our students with their remarkable achievements outside school!

Kitthanat (Mek) Athaphaisal from Year 4 had just been awarded by Eye Level Thailand as the top Mathematician in Thailand in the G2 (Grade 2) level for 2017.

Mek took the exam on 18th November 2017 and when the results came, they sure did not disappoint! He got a score of 94.2 out of 100 which put him at the top of 44 students from all over Thailand.

Internationally, there were almost 1,200 students who took the exam and Mek falls in the top 30. That is such an awesome achievement and one that we, especially his Maths teacher, are very proud of.

Eye Level Learning Center is a supplementary educational institution for Maths, English and other subjects that first opened in Korea in 1976. Today, it's in 25 countries including the US, UK, Canada, Kuwait and our neighbouring countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

You've got it made, Mek!

From the left side of the brain, we move on to the right.

Isabella Pozzi from Year 10, also an extremely gifted student from an academic to an artistic point of view, just received her ABRSM Grade 7 Piano exam, graded at distinction level.

From their website: "ABRSM is the UK’s largest music education body, one of its largest music publishers and the world’s leading provider of music exams, offering assessments to over 600,000 candidates in over 90 countries every year."

Grade 7 is second to the most difficult level and Isabella is now working on the final Grade 8 exam. She will take the exam next year. After which, she can decide whether she would like to take a post-Grade 8 performance-only diploma exam at ARSM (Associate of the Royal Schools of Music).

We have seen Isabella perform many times and the most recent was in the Senior Speech Day following our annual music recital at the International School of Samui Drama Hall where she played her own composition. It is almost a guarantee that she will pass this exam next year. This girl is going places and we are very fortunate to be able to help shape the first decade of her life!

Watch her performance here (31:40 minutes into the live video). If the video doesn't play, click here.
