On Saturday 30th November, the Samui Sharks competed at Thanyapura Sports Complex, Phuket for this academic year’s first fixture of the Thanyapura Open Swim League (TOSL).
The Sharks took a large squad of 37 swimmers representing ISS, with ages ranging from 5 to 16 years old. There were 7 debutant swimmers: Mali Zonggitvorakul, Alessandro Hachanon, Leonardo Coyle, Tommy Kelly, KK Zonggitvorakul, Ploy Reynolds and Tal Cohen, all of whom performed extremely well and did the school proud.
Overall this was a fantastic start to the season, both in and out of the pool. The senior swimmers showed maturity and were an excellent example to the younger swimmers. The youngsters were a joy to watch and there was a great atmosphere on poolside at the meet.
School Records
Two school records were broken at the meet, both by Ing Nongbualang. He broke the record for the 100m Breaststroke and the 50m Fly in the boys 11-12 age group. 7 new records were set in the new 15-17 year old age group by Tom Maestracci, Paul-Eric Larson-Drozd, Erng Nongbualang and Oak Arnasiri.
The Samui Sharks boys currently sit 2nd overall and the girls are currently 4th overall as we await the second meet of the swim league on February 8th.
