Weird Science ECA will be performing an interesting experiment every week. Yesterday they discovered why soda shoots out like a fountain when you add a mint to the bottle.
Although the mints look smooth, they are covered in a gazillion tiny little bumps which attract the bubbles (made of carbon dioxide) in the soda, which in turn attracts more bubbles causing a chain reaction which gets out of control so the bottle erupts!
