Year 10 students at ISS recently completed a week of on-the-job work experience at placements they both researched and organised completely independently.
All of them managed to find a placement that they consider both interesting, and ultimately useful in broadening their skills and experiences as they progress towards their IGCSEs, Sixth Form and A Levels.
Recent studies have shown that those students who have real world experiences alongside their academic studies perform far better at school and university, as these experiences provide relevance and benchmarks that both motivate and inspire them.
This year our students experienced placements as diverse as accountancy, share trading and hospitality, with one student travelling to China to experience life in a manufacturing company.
We hope our students will have returned from their week of work with a clear understanding of how an employing organisation functions, having learnt work and application processes at first hand, gained the self-confidence needed in an adult world, and developed some of the skills and knowledge necessary for adult life.
Thank you to all the businesses that accepted our students for placements, and a special thank you to Six Sense Samui , OZO Chaweng Samui , Mai Pen Rai Bungalows, W Hotel for your lovely photos.
