Congratulations to our Stars of the Week: Sonia, Robert, Platon, Jordan, Fan Fan, Elle and Thomas!

The students in Year 7 went on an Arts and Craft Thai culture trip, learning about local plants, tasting some of their leaves and fruits, and learnt how to split the fiber of the banana tree bark. The students saw how the banana strings would dry in the sun before the students knotted them into banana leaf bags. The trip was great fun, and we thank all the wonderful ladies at Bann Namwa Samui for the collaborative activity of the Thai & Art departments at ISS.

In this Year Two class project, students worked together in groups to create an information text about a sea creature. The learning objective was to research, discuss, and share facts using clear sentences and pictures.

Congratulations to ISS Year 9 student Platon on his certification for the HSK Chinese proficiency test which he recently sat. HSK is a standardized Mandarin Chinese language proficiency test for non-native speakers. There are 6 levels of the test, and Platon successfully passed the level 1 exam which consists of listening and reading, in which students are required to learn at least 300 Chinese characters.

Congratulations to Melina (Year 4), who was officially honoured last week by the Thai Ministry of Education, as a child who has brought great honour to Thailand. The official ceremony took place in Bangkok. Melina received the involving several thousand young participants from many countries. By receiving the Supreme Gold Award (high level of distinction), Melina achieved third place overall within the entire field of participants, making this achievement particularly notewor

Our Year 3 students explored the exciting world of Jackson Pollock style painting. They learned about his unique methods, bold use of colour, and the meaning behind action painting. It wasn’t just theory — they put their learning into action by creating their own expressive Pollock inspired artworks. A fantastic week full of creativity, movement, and imagination!

Our Reception students joyfully celebrated Thai Children’s Day with curiosity, creativity, and cultural pride. Inspired by this year’s Prime Minister’s motto, “Love Thailand, Care for the World,” the children explored local heritage while learning about their role in a global community through meaningful play and learning.
