Year 3 enjoyed an exciting visit to Baan Yaa Suan Bpuu, a local learning centre in Bang Rak, Koh Samui, as part of their Thai culture topic. The trip provided hands-on, experiential learning opportunities, helping students connect with the origins of their food, explore agricultural science, and develop a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship.

Last week, our students from Year 1 to Year 13 took part in our annual Swimathon, raising funds for the various charities our school supports. We are incredibly proud of every student who participated with such enthusiasm and determination over the two days of the event. A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who came along to support and cheer on our swimmers — your encouragement made the event even more special. Kon'nichiwa from Japan! 16 adventurous ISS students are currently carving up the slopes in Niseko, Japan for ISS Ski 2026. The conditions have been incredible as have our students. We have first time and advanced skiers / boarders all gaining valuable experience and improving their skills. What an adventure! Enjoy your last day on the slopes everyone!

Our Reception class have been learning all about real-life superheroes! As part of their topic, they visited the local fire station to meet real firefighters and learn about the amazing and valuable work they do every day. A big thank you to the fire crew for such a memorable experience!

The Funky Ducklings, The Unjust Darlings and Banned on Tuesday started the Chinese New Year festivities with their first public performance of 2026, performing their largest set list to date to a packed audience. Performing multiple newly learnt songs also shows how talented and creative these students continue to be! Further celebrations will take place next week with the Chinese New Year ceremony, with the traditional lion dance starting the festivities.

Over the past two weeks, ISS Senior students explored popular tourist attractions on Koh Samui as part of their Thai Culture class. Working in groups, students researched their chosen attractions, designed creative posters, and shared their findings with classmates. It was a great opportunity to learn, collaborate, and deepen their appreciation of Thailand’s rich culture and tourism.

Congratulations to Oskar (Year 7) who participated in the Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad (Extended Round), held in Bali, Indonesia, on 17 January 2026. Through his dedication and strong problem-solving skills, Oskar received the Bronze Award for SEAMO X 2026 Paper C, after placing in the 60th percentile or higher among top competitors from 22 countries. Well done, Oskar — we are incredibly proud of your achievement!

The Funky Ducklings and Banned on Tuesday took to the stage for the second ISS Live Lounge performance of the school year, recording a new set of songs in the Drama Theatre. Not only do events such as this provide good practice for public performances, but also allows our talented students to perform in different environments to produce music videos to showcase their talents further.
