On Saturday 3rd November the Samui Sharks competed at Thanyapura sports complex in Phuket for this academic year’s 1st session of the Thanyapura open swim league (TOSL). There are 3 sessions in total across the year with points accumulated across the 3 sessions and final placings being determined in June 2019.
The Sharks took a large squad of 29 swimmers representing ISS with ages ranging from 6 to 14 years old. We welcomed 5 debutant swimmers to the team: Jacob Mosher (year 5), Louis Nunn (4), Yunho Jang (3), Kamilla Poszgai (3) and Tabitha Lees (2) all of which performed extremely well and did the school proud.
On the eve of the competition I announced the new captain of the Samui Sharks swim team; Paul-Eric (P.E.) Larson-Drozd was a popular appointment amongst his team mates. The captaincy is well deserved as P.E. is a great role model to our younger swimmers and I’m sure he will do an excellent job taking on this challenge.

Mr Withers who has been leading the Sharks for the past 3 years was immensely proud of his team. In his own words, he said "There were enough special performances on the day for me to write a book about these, the whole team really raised to the occasion and I am extremely proud of each and every one of the swimmers".

School records Only 7 school records were broken at the meet, it is becoming increasingly harder to get these records as the standards rise.
