Spreading her wings and soaring through ballet

Earlier this year, one of our Year 5 students, Arda Phothiphrom -- together with her friends Lera (Year 3) and Keira (Reception) -- ventured to the big city in Bangkok to take part in a prestigious competition.

It was the ATOD International Dance Competition where almost 50 dance schools participated and an auditorium of 600 seats was easily filled. There were 15 sessions over the course of 3 days and our representatives from Koh Samui entered in the Ballet category.

It was a tough competition and as such a great achievement for Arda and the team. Performing solo in front of a huge crowd is a daunting experience. Yet they managed to finish their acts with grace and confidence.

We thank Arda's mum for sharing this outside school activity with us. We also thank AirWellFit (an all-rounded dance studio) in Samui for training our students in this field and opening such opportunities to them. The school is always delighted to learn about our students' achievement outside the four walls of the International School of Samui.
